Ayurveda the science of life has its origin from the days of rishis. A rich tradition dating back to 3000 years was an inseparable part of routine life. It is believed that Lord Brahma created Ayurveda. Vedas are scripts which are divine as well as perfect in themselves. Ayurveda, an upanga of Atharva Veda by its divine origin and closeness to biosphere enriches the human race with its endless power to lead a healthy and contented life holistically.

Ayurvedic Science is based on 'Tridosha Principle'. VATA. PITTA and KAPHA are Tridoshas, These doshas in a state of equilibrium maintain the body in a constructive way and if these are Tridoshas. These doshas in a state of equilibrium maintain the body in a constructive way and if these are vitiated destroys the body and disease is the result. Among these doshas Vata Dosha is the manager which keeps these equilibrium between the doshas and controls the body metabolism. A basic idea about Tridoshas is very essential while dealing with Ayurvedic themes.

As it is said Ayurveda is closely knitted with one's day today life. It considers human beings in perfect harmony with it's environment. The knowledge that rishis conveyed stands up-to-date even today. It is here the importance of DINA CHARYA or the principles of routine life comes. It helps the human race to attain DHARMA, ARTHA, KAMA, MOKSA.

Abhyanga or massage with oil has an important place in keeping one healthy or 'SWASTHA' as it is named ayurvedically: "ABYANGAMACHARET NITHYAM SWASTHO RAKSHARTHAMAYUSHA".

That is Abhyanga should be done daily by every healthy individual who seeks disease free enriched life "RATHAKSHA CHARMA GHADAVAT BHAVANTHY ABHYANGATO GUNA" i.e. just as a lubricant does to the axil of a cart Abhyanga smoothens every part of the body and soul to meet the stress and strain of today's IT world.

Massages are classified into two according to the circumstances at which it is performed.

Simple Abhyanga - Duration - 15 mts. - is performed daily in the morning by healthy individuals just before bath to lead a healthier life. This is performed by individuals on their own Pure sesame oil is sufficient for the desired results.

Abhyanga - Duration - 1 Hour - is performed in diseased conditions to relieve aches, pains, traumas etc using medicated oils. This is performed by expert Masseurs in a treatment center. Utmost care is taken while doing oil massage. Otherwise Marma's or pressure points are vitiated and ailments results. A thorough theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the 107 marmas and nerves of the body is essential to give correct pressure to the body to free it from ailments. There are nine positions to be maintained while doing Ayurvedic oil Massage.

4. Supine position
5. Right Lateral Position
6. Supine Position
7. Posterior Position
8. Supine Position
9. Supine Position

The nature of hand movements also differs depending on the areas to be managed. A smooth uniform movement with adequate pressure works wonders in one's body. For example in joints massage is done in circular motion.

Another classification of massage is like this:
1. OIL MASSGE - Massage using hands and oil is used as medium.
2. KIZHIS - Here Massage is done using various types of Kizhis or balls. Here medicine is rolled in a cotton cloth in the form of balls and this is used for doing massage instead of hands. Medicated oil is the medium.

Various KIZHIS are as follows:
