Located in the northern part of India, Chandigarh is the capital of two states namely Haryana and Punjab. Besides, Chandigarh is also a Union Territory of India; therefore, it is also the capital city of Chandigarh itself.

Furthermore, the city is one of the most planned, developed and modernized centres of North India. The neat and clean city has also various attractions. Chandigarh is one of the first planned cities of India, which was planned by the great architects Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Albert Mayer, and Matthew Nowicki. In terms of per capita income, it is one of the leading cities of India. Above all, for the year 2010, it has also been officially announced as the 'cleanest city' of India.

It is interesting to share that, the name Chandigarh is given with some purpose i.e. the meaning of the word Chandigarh is 'the Fort of Chandi". It has been derived from an ancient temple namely 'Chandi Mandir.' Located nearby the city, Chandi Mandir is dedicated to the goddess 'Chandi.'

Chandi Mandir: Dedicated to Goddess Chandi, it is the oldest temple of Chandigarh.
Amb Sahib Gurdwara: It is very popular Gurdwara of Chandigarh.

Capitol Complex: Located in Sector 1, Capitol Complex is one of the most fascinating attractions in Chandigarh. It consists of various headquarters of states Punjab and Haryana; the Secretariat, the Assembly, and High Court also located here.
Rock Garden: Entirely adorned with the rocks' statue and other sculptures, Rock Garden is pretty unique garden of India. It is one of the most visited points in Chandigarh. Built by Nek Chand, the garden covers about 12 acres.
Leisure Valley: It is perfect natural landscape where you can see various beautiful gardens; interestingly, the India's popular and Asia's largest rose garden i.e. Rose Garden is one of the gardens of Leisure Valley. Some other important gardens are Garden of Rare Plants, Garden of Tranquillity, Bougainvillea Garden, Botanical Garden, Garden of Annuals, and garden of Aromatic Plants.
The Open Hand: Located in the Capitol Complex premises, the Open Hand is a wonderful monument of Chandigarh. Surprisingly, made up of metal sheets, there is a giant hand measuring as high as 85 feet from the hollow trench. The hand is designed in such a way that it rotates and gives the message that "the city gladly receives all, without any distinction."
Sector 17: Beautifully architected, it is the modern and main shopping centre of Chandigarh. In addition, it is not only a shopping centre but there are many decoration works that fountains, sculptures, gardens etc equally fascinate people.
Sukhna Lake: Located in Sector 1, Sukhna Lake is a wonderful place for boating, walking along the lake, passing leisure time etc.
International Dolls Museum: Located in Sector 23, it has huge collection of dolls and puppets brought from all over the world. This is popular of children.

How to Reach??
By Road: It has well developed road network and directly linked with many major and minor cities of India including the national capital territory New Delhi, Jammu, Shimla, Jalandhar, Ludhiayana, Patiala and many more. However, The NH 21 (Ambala-Kinnaur) and NH 22 (Chandigarh-Leh) are the main highways linking Chandigarh city with the rest of the country India.
By Rail: Located at the distance of about 8 km from the city, Chandigarh Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station. You can catch here many trains which are directly linked with most of the major cities and towns of India.
By Air: Located at the distance of about 11 km from the main city, Chandigarh has pretty busy airport that links with most of the major cities of India. You can book air ticket for or from Chandigarh.
