Dundlod City

Dundlod is a fort which lies in the heart of the Shekhawati region north-west of Jaipur famous for its painted Havelis (or mansions) the Dunlodh Castle was built in 1750 AD.Heir to a long live of feudal lords our host Kanwar Raghuvendra Singh (known as Bonnie) is a horseman par excellence. Son of a retired cavalry officer Thakur Raghuvir Singh who served in the Jaipur Lancers and later commanded a horsed cavalry unit during the days of the British Raj, Bonnie grew up in an active equestrian environment. His stable consists of Marwari and Katiawari horses - these two indigenous breeds are inextricably linked with chivalrous Rajput history. The Marwari horse combines all the fiery characteristics of the true desert horse and is distinguished by his high floating carriage, noble profile and the lyre-shaped ears, curving and crossing at the tips, a feature which sets him apart from any other known breed.

Witness a truly spectacular horse-show at the polo grounds of Dunlodh Castle, comprising of polo, tent-pegging, show-jumps and mounted sports. The guests will be invited to participate and compete in this unique Royal Equestrian experience.

Gala Rajasthani evening with the Gangaur Festival Theme. Gangaur is the most important local festival of Rajasthan dedicated to Goddess Gauri the consort of Lord Shiva. It symbolizes conjugal bliss and marital happiness and is celebrated by married women and young girls. Colorful images of the goddess beautifully bedecked and bejeweled are taken out in a procession by the women who themselves are attired in the best tradition of bridal dresses. The town band plays as the procession of women sing and dance the ghoomar moving around in circles and twirling their ghagras full skirts), towards the lake where they will take the Gauri mage for a ceremonial bath. A sumptuous banquet and a fireworks display complete this grand evening.

Mount saddled camels for a camel safari through the semi-desertic countryside with alternating sand-dunes and shrub vegetation. Hot picnic lunch under the shade of trees in a local village and interact with the villages and visit a local elementary village school.

An exciting jeep rally with road maps through the villages of Shekhawati region famous for its grand Havelis (mansions) with their lively frescoes, cataloging the life, habits / fashions of the Marwari community.
