Located in the central-east part of the state, Jabalpur is the third largest urban agglomeration in Madhya Pradesh. The city Jabalpur is quite popular city because of having rich and traditional historical importance. It had been ruled by Gond dynasty and Kalchuri dynasty, which has been evolved as the cultural centre. Further, during the British rule, the city was the important cantonment town. However, after independence, it has been shown very fast growth and resultantly became one of the major cities of Madhya Pradesh state. Today, the city Jabalpur is army headquarters of five states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, and Bihar.

Geographically, it is located in the region of the continental mass Gondwanaland. However, Jabalpur is largely popular for its superb quality marble rock available on either side of the Narmada river valley. Additionally, the city is a historic, cultural, and educational centre. It has also greatly contributed in field of Hindi literature and it is the birthplace of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Osho Rajneesh. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was the painter who illustrated Constitution of India and the site of significant Jain shrines. Above all, with having numerous schools, colleges, and universities specialized in various disciplines, Jabalpur is a huge educational hub for the Madhya Pradesh students.

By virtue of having long history and rich tradition, Japablpur is also a popular tourists' spot of Madhya Pradesh. Major tourists' attractions are:
Bheda Ghat: Situated on the bank of Narmada River, Bheda Ghat is the fascinating tourist attraction in the city. Major attractions to visit here are marble gorge, marble rocks, Chausath Yogini temple, Panchavti Ghat etc. This is the spot that also attracted many Bollywood stars to suit movie.
Dhuandhar Waterfall: Situated on the Narmada River, Dhuandhar Waterfall is one of the most picturesque landscapes that gives pleasure and peace to the visitors. Interestingly, the sound of spectacular waterfall can be heard from a far distance.
Chausath-Yogini Temple (Sixty Four female Yogis): Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is located in a picturesque landscape. It is situated at the top of the hill rock and it can be reached through a long flight of steps. Surprisingly, the temple is 10th century old.
Balancing Rock: Jabalpur is also popular for an eroded volcanic rock formation known as Balancing Rock.
Khandari Water Works: It is a small natural reserve located on the way of Jabalpur and Dumna aerodrome. You can enjoy here the beautiful landscapes and wild life.
Kachnar City: Famous across the country for the 76 feet high statue of Lord Shiva, it is located in Vijayanagar suburb of Jabalpur. The temple is one of the most important shrines of Lord Shiva.
Barela: Located at the distance of 16 km from Jabalpur, Barela is also popular as "Dharm Nagri." However, it is popular for the Sharda Mandir, Shiv Mandir and 80 feet long snake.

By Rail: Jabalpur has a huge railway station that connects the city with all major and hundreds of minor towns of India. You can book your rail ticket from any city including New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Patna, Jammu, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow, Puri, Raipur etc.
By Air: Located at the distance of about 20 km, Dumna Airport is the nearest airport of the city. You can take direct flight for Delhi, Mumbai, Bhopal etc. from this airport.
