Located in the south-west part of the state in Kottayam District of Kerala, Kumarakom is a popular tourists’ site. Situated at the bank of Vembanad Lake, the largest fresh water lake in the state of Kerala, Kumarakom is largely known for its backwater tourism.

Located at the bank of Vembanad Lake, it is cluster of various small islands which are interlinked with the intricate backwater; touring in boat one island to another is pretty mesmerizing. Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary: Located at the distance of about 16 kms from Kumarakom on the bank of Vembanad Lake, it is the paradise for the bird watchers. The sanctuary is home of various species of birds such as Water duck, Cuckoo and Egret; in addition, it is also ideal place for many migratory birds including Siberian stork.

Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls: Located at the distance of about 18 kms from Kumarakom, it is favourite picnic spot. With its beautiful landscapes and melodious sound of falls is fascinating for the tourists.

Vembanad Lake: It is the largest fresh water lake in Kerala and pretty popular of backwater tourism.

Pathiramanal: One of the most beautiful sites of Kerala is Pathiramanal. It is also popular as ‘Sands of Midnight’; it is the home of various migratory birds.
