Located in the central part of the state, Mandore is an ancient town of Rajasthan. The nearest city from Mandore is Jodhpur, which is located 9 km south of Mandore.

The ancient town primarily governed by the King Nahar Rao Parihar, of Parihar (Gurjara Pratihara) dynasty during the 6th century AD. However, over period of time, it had been ruled by some other Kings and hence, once you visit you can see the structures of various periods. Culture and traditions are also pretty rich in the region; the major traditional festivals are Rao Festival, Hariyali Amavasya and Naag Panchami.

Major Tourists’ Attractions of Mandore:

• Mandore Fort: The ancient town Mandore homes various historic forts and monuments; however, ruined Mandore fort is the most fascinating one; it has thick walls and other structure entail that it had been built during various period of times. There is also a temple in ruined state; you can see various beautiful designs and images of birds, animals and planets made over the outer wall of the temple.

• Mandore Gardens: It is one of the wonderful places to visit; you can see here collection of temples and memorials along with high rock terraces. In addition, the site also evidences various Chhatris (cenotaphs) of various rulers of respective princely state of Marwar. Major attractions of Mandore Gardens are:

• A Temple of 33 crore Gods of Hindu: Here you can see the images of various Hindu Gods.

• A Hall of Heroes: It is a stunning feature commemorating the popular folk heroes of the respective region. Surprisingly, there are 16 images, which have been carved on a single rock.

• A Government museum: It has the collections of various articles of historic periods.

How to Reach??

By Road: Located merely at the distance of 9 kms from Jodhpur, it can be easily reached by bus. Buses are available from all major cities and towns of Rajasthan and you can also take bus from Delhi, which is easily available.

By Rail: The nearest railway station is Jodhpur, which is directly linked with several major cities of India; so, you can book ticket from New Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai etc.

By Air: The major nearest airport is Jaipur; from Jaipur, you need to take bus or hire private vehicle.
