Take a cruise up the picturesque Mandovi river with Portuguese and
Goan music on board. After a brief halt at Reis Magos, proceed to
Velha Goa or Old Goa. Visit the Church of St. Francis of Assisi
- built in 1661 and the best example of Portuguese religious art
in old Goa.
Visit also the Chapel of St. Catherine an endearing little Renaissance
church however, the Basilica of Bom Jesus which took 10 years
to build is the most frequented not for its size or style but
for the relic of St. Francis Xavier.
Visit to Flea market of Anjuna
- very early on Wednesdays, Anjuna beach to the north, throbs
with life & there is excitement in the air. Several narrow
paths lead to a shady coconut grove beyond the fields & before
the sand. Here is a riot of colour, people, goods, languages,
flavour & sound. This is where the East meets the West and
all over a bargain!

Old Goa : Visit
the most important Cathedrals and churches - namely Se-Cathedral,

Panaji - Visit
the largest church in Panaji - church of Mary Immaculate Conception,
the Jama mosque, Mahalaxmi temple and the handicraft emporium
and state museum. Drive past the local fruit and vegetable market
and walk through the traditional fish vendors market. Miramar
Beach & fishing village - Dona Paula - This is the only beach
close to any city and has a good view of the river Mandovi flowing
into the sea. Fishing village dona Paula is a small village at
the tip of Panaji, the place has a very good view point and a
monument at the same place.
Visit the temples at Goa
- Mangueshi, Mahalsa, Shanta Durga, Ramnathi, Naguesh, Mahalaxmi,
Narashima temples are very unique in architecture and the general
location. They offer a good insight of the original heritage of
the Goan culture and way of life in the local villages . Stop
at interesting places in the local villages to see the village
life.
Ancestral Goa -
This is a large area developed into a mock-up of a local Goan
village complete with people (mannequins), huts and houses giving
a quite good remnants of the bygone era of the Portugese regime
in Goa. Raia / Rachol Seminaraty - This is a secluded church in
the South Goa and has a larger complex dedicated to the seminary
which is an institute for people to become Priests. It also has
a good museum .
Margao city - the
commercial capital of Goa having a good local market - curios,
momentous, souvenirs etc. Colva Beach - stretches over 50 kms,
it is the largest golden beach in Goa
Spice Plantations
: This is a very vast area where all kinds of exotic spices are
grown and there is a certain area in the middle of the plantations
where specimens of various spices are grown together. See the
famous Goan Fenny being distilled in the old traditional method.

Dudh Sagar waterfalls & Mollem
: This is a wild life sanctuary and the place falls enroute to
the Dudh Sagar waterfalls. This area can be visited only by jeep.
Chapora Fort and ancient fort in the North Goa over looking the
sea and Vagator Beach Anjuna Beach - the rocky beach of Goa which
has excellent views and safe waters. The famous Flea market is
organized on this beach on every Wednesday.
Baga / Calangute beaches
- famous beaches of Goa . Aguada Fort - this fort has the Old
Portuguese prison cell and the fort. The Light House is still
functional and guides the barges and ships in the surrounding
seas of Goa.
Menezes Braganza House
- an old Portuguese mansion in south Goa - village of Chandor.
The house offers and insight to the bygone era of the Portuguese
regime in Goa, the artifacts, the decorative monuments and the
object d’art are very interesting. High tea and light snacks

Therekol Fort -
an ancient fort at the tip of Goa, part of the fort has now been
converted into a hotel, the location is excellent with the fort
overlooking the vast sea expanse and one side the sand the other
the rock - the whole place is very good. Harmal beach / Morjim
beach - these are the less visitited beaches thus are the cleanest
and the best in Goa. The sands are absolutely white and clear
sea water makes these beaches ideal for a visit.,
Bondla wildlife sanctuary
- with a variety of flora and fauna. Tambdi Surla temple is the
oldest and the only temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated
in the middle of the Bondla wildlife sanctuary and has a very
good location with a large stream flowing alongside and a fliage
of greenery around the place gives a very mystical look.
Ribander House
- similar kind of house as Braganza’s house (closer to Panaji).
The Cashew factory is the place where the local cashews are processed
and packed for export. The whole process right from breaking of
the fruit, roasting/steaming of the nut, extracting the kernel
etc is elaborately described and shown by the local women/villagers.
Sanata Monica boat cruise
- organized by the Goa Tourism which has a good cultural program,
songs, live band etc on board.
Palolem Beach -
Island trip - a very clean beach in the Southern most tip of Goa.
Visit the fishing village close to the beach which gives an opportunity
to see how the locals pull in the fish while singing their folk
songs. See wooden handicraftsmen in the village who make toys,
momentous etc,.
Mapuca - the city
where every Friday a local market is held and has a nice Goan
ambiance Visit the Potters village (Bicholim) - an old village
where only the potters stay, the terracotta industry is very famous
here. See the life style of this people and visit the various
cottage industry plants and also the training school where the
locals study the art of pottery. One can also visit the local
mines of iron and Manganese.
Enjoy a boat ride which offers the chance to see the wild Crocodiles.
