Destinations : Delhi – Jaipur – Agra – Mathura – Varanasi – Haridwar – Rishikesh – Shimla – Manali - Chandigarh Day 01 - ARRIVE DELHI Day 02 - AT DELHI OLD DELHI : An ancient walled city. Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire: Raj Ghat, the memo -rial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colourful market of the old city. NEW DELHI : This city designed and built by the British in the 1920's - a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. First you will visit two monuments from Delhi's past Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. Then your drive takes you along the ceremonial avenue, Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate and Parliament House. Day 04 - AT JAIPUR Afternoon tour of Jaipur city where you will visit CITY PALACE - A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city. It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum and JANTAR MANTAR - This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country. This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use. Day 05 – JAIPUR DRIVE TO AGRA (Drive time 5 hrs. approx.) Arrive and check in at HOTEL. Later visit to Taj Mahal - visit to the world famous ‘Taj Mahal’ by ‘decorated tongas’. The inimitable poem in white marble, built over a period of 22 years by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Also visit Red Fort built by three generations of Mughal Emperors starting from Akbar the Great in 1565 AD, which is a masterpiece of design and construction. It housed both the residential Palaces of the Royal family, and the military quarters. Day 07 - Arrive Varanasi Varanasi or Kashi as it was called in the 7th century B.C has been the religious capital of the Hindu faith since recorded time and is one of the oldest cities in the world and a hub of firmly rooted traditions. The old city of Varanasi is a maze of small streets and alleyways, hiding in disorderly array no less than 2000 temples and shrines. Domes, minarets, pinnacles and towers, and derelict 18th century palaces dominate the sacred left bank of the river Ganges. Afternoon commence tour to visit SARNATH : 10 kms from the centre of the city, Sarnath symbolises the birth of Buddhism. It was here that Lord Buddha revealed his doctrine and founded his monastic community. The Museum at Sarnath is amongst the most important in India and contains carvings representing a whole range of styles - Archaic, the covering work of sculptors from 3rd century B.C. to the 12th century A.D. Evening visit River Ganges to attend Ganga Arati. Day 08 : Varanasi to Delhi – Overnight train Early morning boat ride on holy river Ganges followed by temple tour.
Late afternoon transfer to Railway station to board overnight train for Delhi at 3.45 PM. Overnight on board. Arrive Delhi at 4.20 AM. Meeting on arrival at Railway Station and driver straight to reach Haridwar in around 5 to 6 hours time. Arrive and check into the hotel for some relax. Late afternoon explore Haridwar and its temples. Evening witness Ganga arati at Har Ki Pauri Ghat. Overnight at the hotel. Day 10 – Haridwar to Rishikesh – 45 minutes Morning after relaxed breakfast at the hotel explore more of Haridwar and have holy dip in Ganges at Har ki Pauri. Later proceed to Rishikesh and check into the hotel. Later whole day explore temples and ashrams of Rishikesh. Overnight at the hotel. Day 11 – Rishikesh to Shimla – drive 7 to 8 hours Morning after breakfast at the hotel drive to Shimla and check into the hotel on arrival. Rest of the day free to relax. Evening you may like to walk on the mall road.
Shimla is the capital town of Himachal Pradesh. The town of Shimla is built over several hills and connecting ridges. The important hills are Jakhu ( 2,455 meters ), Prospect Hill ( 2,328 meters ), Observatory Hill ( 2,350 meters ), Elysigim Hill ( 2,466 meters ) and Summer Hill ( 2,300 meters ). Shimla is situated in the North-West Himalayas and was the Summer Capital of India during the British rulling era. This town is spread over the ridge measuring about 12 km. It is perhaps the biggest hill station in the world, located at an altitude of 2,421 meters above sea level. A place of peace and pleasure, Shimla is a tourist resort in real sense of the world. The best season of the year here is autumn but the early spring runs a close second. Shimla is connected with air, rail, and road traffics. Shimla under snow is a wonderful sight and it offers the unique attraction of an open air ice skating rink. Also the legendary Ridge under snow and snow sports at Kufri make Shimla a wonderful winter holiday resort. Wild Flower Hall :- ( 13 km. once the residence of Lord Kitchuer, the Commander-in-Chief of India in the beginning of the 20th century. This is surrounded by dense and beautiful pine forest. About 1 km from Wild Flower Hall is the ‘Retreat’ , the weekend resort of Lord Curzon. Between Wild Flower Hall and Retreat, ‘Hem Kunj’ ( formerly Dane's Folly ) the summer holiday resort of the Punjab Governor is situated. On January 4-5-1993, Wild Flower Hall was reduced to ashes in a major fire. Day 13– Shimla to Manali – drive 6 hours Day 14 - At Manali Afternoon free to relax and enjoy surroundings. Overnight at the hotel. Day 15: At Manali Rest of the evening free for independent activities. Overnight at the hotel. Day 16 – Manali to Chandigarh – 8 to 9 hrs Morning after breakfast at the hotel drive to Chandigarh to reach in around 5 hours time. Chandigarh is the first man made city post independence of India. India's youngest city - planned by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. Capital of the States of Punjab and Haryana - but does not belong to either of them. Instead, it is... Day 17 – Chandigarh to Delhi Airport – 5 hours Morning after relaxed breakfast at the hotel drive to Delhi Airport to board homebound flight.
