Located in the southern part of state, Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of Kerala. With its population 1,687,406, the city is the largest city of Kerala and also it is political and cultural centre of the state Kerala. Lush with greenery, the city has beautiful landscapes. • Agastyakoodam: Measuring about 1870 m high, it is one of the highest peaks of Western Ghats located nearby the city Thiruvananthapuram. The peak is pretty notable for ayurvedic herbs. However, tourists enjoy here natural landscapes and pleasant weather.
• Anchuthengu: Located at the distance of about 40 kms from the city, it is situated at the coast; in addition, Anchuthengu has also historic importance, it is the place where English East India Company established in the year 1864 AD.
• Aruvikkara: It is reservoir located at the distance of about 16 kms from the city; the reservoir not only provides water to the city but also popular picnic spot.
• Aruvippuram: Located at the distance of about 7 kms from the city, it is popular for the Shiva Temple.
• Meenmutti and Kombaikani Waterfalls: These are the two mesmerizing waterfalls; interestingly, they are located in the dense forest hence, you also need to travel through the forest before reaching there.
• Neyyattinkara: Located at the distance of about 20 kms south-east from the city Thiruvananthapuram on the bank of Neyyar River, it is an ancient town. The place is popular for the temple and scenic landscape.
• Ponmudi: Located at the distance of about 61 kms from the city, it is popular hill resort. It is situated at an altitude of about 912 m and has beautiful surroundings. On the way of Ponmudi, you can have wonderful landscapes of tea and rubber estates all around the hills.
• Sarkara: Located at the distance of about 35 kms from the city, it is popular temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. Sarkaradevi Temple is pretty important and popular temple of Kerala.
• Varkala: Located at the distance of about 41 kms from the city, it is important pilgrim centre. The most popular temple of the region is Janardana Swami Temple.
• Vizhinjam: Located nearby the Kovalam, it is ancient port; people now use it as fishing harbour where you can also see a light house.
• Kovalam Beach: Located about 12 kms from the city, it is one of the most popular beaches of India. With wonderful landscapes, it fascinates not only Indian tourists but also thousands of foreigner tourists. In addition, the beach is also adorned with various modern facilities such as luxurious resorts, Halcyon castle, swimming pools, yoga centre, Ayurveda treatment centre and shopping area.
• Azhimala Beach: Located at the distance of about 20 kms from the city, Azhimala beach is popular as Ayurvedic Resorts. Besides, there is also popular temple dedicated to lord Shiva.
• Veli Lagoon: Located nearby the city, it is a wonderful place with scenic landscape and modern facilities. You can enjoy pedal-boating, swimming, walking around etc.

How to Reach Thiruanthapuram ??

• By Road: By virtue of being the state capital, it has well developed road network and well connected with various cities of south Indian states. NH-47 and other State Highways are the major roads that connect the city.

• By Rail: Thiruvananthapuram is itself railway station, which is well connected with various other cities of India. It is interesting to share that the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station is one of the most beautifully designed railway stations of India.
