The Journey Narrative

Mumbai to Mumbai

Discover Maharashtra's extraordinary combination of history, spirituality, architecture and living culture on this 10-day private tour. Begin in Mumbai with two nights exploring India's dynamic financial capital before travelling to Aurangabad to discover the magnificent rock-cut caves of Ajanta and Ellora, two of India's greatest archaeological treasures.

Continue to Nashik for the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela 2027, one of India's most important religious gatherings. Spend several days experiencing the extraordinary atmosphere of the Kumbh, with its sadhus, akharas, religious ceremonies, processions and pilgrims gathering along the sacred Godavari River.

Visit Ramkund and Panchavati in Nashik and travel to Trimbakeshwar, home of one of India's twelve revered Jyotirlingas and an important center of the Kumbh celebrations.

The itinerary is designed to coincide with one of the principal Amrit Snan dates where possible. The currently published major bathing dates are 2 August, 31 August and 11–12 September 2027, subject to final official arrangements.

The tour ends with a return to Mumbai, providing a fascinating introduction to Maharashtra that combines its cosmopolitan character, ancient Buddhist and Hindu heritage, and the remarkable living traditions of the Kumbh Mela.
